Special Collection for Malawi Children’s Village

At the April 11th service, UUFF will take a special collection to support the work of the Malawi Children’s Village, a Malawi-run program with strong Alaska ties. Founded in 1996 to help the growing number of Malawian children orphaned by AIDS, it now supports over 2,000 orphans in 37 villages. Its mission is a to provide home-based care for orphaned and other vulnerable children from birth to eighteen years, including shelter, food, safety, health care and education, until they can live healthy, independent lives. Here’s how your donation can help:

  • $10 will buy  a blanket to keep as many as three small children warm
  • $92 will support one orphan for an entire year
  • $100 will purchase anti-malarial medicine for 100 orphans
  • $250 will allow an orphan to attend secondary school for a year
  • $300 will pay for a new roof for a family housing one or more orphans
  • $400 will build a home for an orphan

Malawi Children’s Village is a Non Profit 501(c)3 Registered in New York. It receives no government money nor grants of any kind. If you would like to contribute but cannot make it on April 11, you can donate online or send a check to:
