Love is Like a Box of Chocolates

Coordinators: Jana Peirce and Cam Leonard  Music: Marsha Sousa

This annual service gives us the chance to reflect on the many meanings of that overworked word, love. We know what Hallmark and Hollywood think, but what does love mean to you? We ask an assortment of people to give us their thoughts on the subject – in word, verse, and song — in 1-3 minute bite-sized morsels. As Lucy says in Peanuts, “All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt!”
to go home to some place we have never been,” writes author and priestess Starhawk, “a place half-remembered and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community… Someplace where we can be free.” In community, we “remember” what it means to be human: connected, cared for, providing for one another, even when we can’t meet together in person. This service will explore our human need to be in relationship with one another, and how those relationships shape and change us.
