In this moment of peril and promise, let us fortify ourselves with the wisdom of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and those he inspired. In particular, this service will focus on the challenge that Dr. King left us — to move beyond complacency and half-measures, demanding a truly equitable world for every human being.

2020 is in the history books and a new year is about to unfold before us. Let’s join together for some laughter, lamentation, and creative acts of catharsis as we imagine a way forward. To participate in our ritual during this service, please bring something that you can write on — a small piece of paper or fabric — that you can keep with you throughout 2021.

Minister: Rev. Lise Adams Sherry
The holidays can be a joyful time, but sometimes that joy can be complicated. This year so many of us are missing loved ones at our tables and dealing with economic challenges that make us feel more blue than jolly. We’ll be joining the Anchorage Unitarian Universalist Fellowship this Sunday to hold sacred space and honor these and other experiences of the season. Please note that this service will be hosted by AUUF and will begin at 11 AM.

“There is a mystery here. The mystery is that wounds do not just take away from life; they can add to life as well.” Douglas C. Smith
We all carry wounds — emotional, physical, spiritual — and each plays a part in shaping who we are. What strength do you possess as a result of the wounds you have experienced? How have those experiences prepared you for this moment? Rev. Leslie will explore the mystery of the strength we find in our broken places.
