Join the Green Sanctuary Movement

Green Sanctuary resumes. That’s re-zooms, not reh-zoo-mays, in case you were wondering.  With the upcoming world-wide attention on October 24th, 350 Day (see www.350.org), it reminds us that we have no time to waste.  The Green Sanctuary Committee will reconvene for their first meeting of the season on Thursday, October 29th, at Gulliver’s Second Story Cafe back room at 11:30 AM.  We welcome new, interested planet-lovers to join us for a strategy-storming session on how to kick-off our UUFF efforts this winter. Need Volunteers to Answer KUAC Phones

UUFF has signed up to answer phones at KUAC on Saturday, October 24, from 7:00 to 10:00 am. (Note: That’s the 2nd weekend of the pledge drive.) We’ll be looking for 4 people to take pledge calls. Contact us if you are interested. We’ll send a confirmation email in return with more information.

Silent Auction ends at Noon Sunday

Sunday, October 4th at noon is the end of the current silent auction. The October table will feature tableware, baskets, etc. If you have anything to contribute, please bring it into the office. November’s table will feature jewelry. We thought it would be a good pre-holiday gift finding offering.

Yard Sale Fundraiser

Bring your treasures to sell for hard cash or bring your hard cash to trade for treasures. Come one and all to the Super-Dooper Garage Sale and UUFF fundraiser for UUFF exteriors projects this Saturday the 8th & Sunday the 9th, from 10 AM to 4 PM each day. The sale will be held at Anna Plager’s house at the top of Dalton Trail, just north of UAF. You can drop off sale items to donate or you can donate a percentage of your items’ sale price. Please help with the sale if you can. All volunteers are welcome.

New Silent Auction

An Amazon Kindle e-book reader, an 11′ x 7′ braided rug, a red fleece blanket, a silver candelabra, a book of the collected works of Ralph Waldo Emerson: We are setting up a new silent auction table. It is part of our fund raising effort. It also promotes our stated objective of being a greener community and recycling. If we receive too many items for one table, we’ll hold them for next month. If you have something to contribute, bring it to the office on Sunday. We’d also like to do a large garage sale/recycle sale. Any volunteers to help organize it? Contact Julia Stewart.

What!? Another Yard Party?!

Please come to the Second UUFF Yard Party of the season this Saturday, June 6th, 11 AM to 3 PM. The late morning start gives you time to make it to the Pioneer Home Yard Sale before hand. We only had a handful of hard workers attending the First Yard Party last month and we need MORE helpers this time. There are two projects that cannot wait, so bring your tools or at least your work gloves and join in the fun. Here are some exciting new developments: Read More »

UUFF Plant Sale

We know you are ready for plants grown from UUFF seeds (these plants are full of compassion and they thrive on truth and justice).  We have several volunteer growers who plan to bring the plants they’ve lovingly tended all spring to offer for sale on Sunday, May 31st, at UUFF after the service (about noon).  Those of you who aren’t donating by bringing things to sell are encouraged to pick up some summer greenery for your garden and flower pots.  Your donations will contribute towards the landscape projects around the building, such as new fencing and stairs.  If you have garden or yard-related donations, they will be accepted anytime before the sale on Sunday.  Volunteers are neede to help with the sale. Contact Anna Plager (455-6695).

Food needed for Sunday’s picnic/bbq

Please bring a side dish, dessert or something for the grill for Sunday’s Spring Celebration potluck. UUFF will provide the condiments, buns and beverages. We will have two small grills going (if you have a larger one you can bring, please let Frida know).

Calling all folk musicians: UUFF Maypole dance band needs you

One of the best parts of our annual outdoor maypole celebration (held on Sunday, May 24, this year) is the live music played by members and friends of the Fellowship. If you are a musician who can play country dance/folk music and you want to join in, contact Jana Peirce (488-8692). Once we know who’s playing, we will arrange a practice time to go over which songs we’ll play. The practice will either be this Sunday (May 17) after service or at 9:30 a.m. on May 24, before the Maypole service.

Got a Grill? Got food? Help us with BBQ Picnic on May 24

Frida Shroyer asks everyone planning to participate in the Maypole celebration barbeque lunch on May 24 to contact her with items they’ll be bringing. UUFF is needing barbeque grills, things to grill, beverages, salads, and desserts, and we need good organization for this event. You can leave Frida a message at 460-5372. Thanks!
