From September to May, Religious Exploration (RE) classes are available for elementary school-age children during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Children join their parents in the sanctuary for the beginning of the service, and then depart as a group with their teachers right after the Children’s Story, usually about 10 minutes into the service.

In 2010-2011 our Elementary Class will be working with one of the Tapestry of Faith Curricula, called “Love Connects Us” which will explore our UU values through the ways we are connected by love. This program includes games, activities, crafts, and stories to emphasize our values and principles.
It looks like it will be a fun year!

This year we are making some changes to the Preschool Program as we will be incorporating a lesson in addition to group play time. We will be using the “Chalice Children” Curriculum to help our children gain a better understanding of the values that are important to us as Unitarian Universalists.”

Our preschool children will start the morning in the service for family time, then proceed to the Clara Barton (yellow) Room for lessons. After their lessons, they will move on to the Beatrix Potter (blue) Room for some group play where parents/guardians can sign them out after the service.

For infants and young toddlers who may wish to stay with a parent during the service, there is a soundproof room at the back of the sanctuary so parents can see and hear the service without worrying that a fussy or active child will disturb others.
